Chile Ridge Subduction Project

Ray Russo is lead U.S. Principle Investigator on a project to deploy 60 seismometers in south-central Chile, where the Chile Rise oceanic spreading ridge subducts beneath South America.  Co-Principle Investigators Diana Comte, Victor Mocanu, and Ruth Murdie, and graduate student Alejandro Gallego, along with Russo, comprise the science team tasked with understanding the paradoxical phenomenon of ridge subduction in this area.
