Conference Participation Grant |
Sunshine State TESOL awards ten conference participation grants of $250 each to help Sunshine State TESOL members defray the cost of attending the annual conference. Two groups of persons are eligible to apply for the grants:
- Graduate students currently involved in graduate study in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, applied linguistics or a related field.
- Any person actively involved in the field of ESOL (teachers, tutors, paraprofessionals, administrators, and parents) and who does not receive financial support from their own institution.
Recipients may use the funds for expenses such as conference registration, transportation, hotel and meals, pursuant to attendance at the annual conference
To receive a grant, participants must:
Grantees who have won a Conference Participation Grant should wait two (2) years before applying for another grant.
- Be a member of Sunshine State TESOL of Florida.
- Complete the APPLICATION FORM.
- Write a short essay on why they should be awarded the grant and how it will benefit students.
- Participate in the entire conference.
- Do a short write-up regarding their conference experience, suitable for publication in The Messenger. The report should include summaries of good sessions attended, new ideas learned from the conference, and/or personal reflections on the conference experience.
Applications must be postmarked or received by e-mail by March 15.
Grantees will be notified of awards by April 15. Awards will be given at the Conference Annual Luncheon.
