Telling Frog Stories--A cross cultural comparison within families



Which story teller is the father?

A.  An American Family

1.  The waiter says, "What do you want?" and the frog jumps into the saxophone

2.  Well, here comes the waiter. Oh. He is coming up to say, "May I have your order, sir?" and the music is playing and they're ordering. Everybody is getting something to eat. and the frog jumps out towards the band. Oh! Oh! He's dived right in the saxophone. Actually, it's a tenor saxophone. Oh, that frog.

B.  A Japanese Family

1.  Everybody's looking for the menu. And the frog jumped into the horn.

2.  What are they doing? They are looking at the menu and thinking something to eat. O.K. So where is the frog? He jumped into the horn. Oh, no! He shouldn't do that!

C. A Brazilian Family

1.  They are hearing some music and the frog jumps out of the boy's pocket.

2.  So they began to ask the waiter what they could have for dinner. But look what happened. The frog was not so well disciplined. He didn't behave very well. And he saw a man playing saxophone. The frog was so excited with the playing so he jumped into the saxophone.
