- satellite geodesy and crust/lithosphere deformation modeling
- modeling of mountain belts, plateaus, or basins
- mantle convection modeling
- experimental/numerical modeling of chemical partitioning
and flow in the solid earth
- study of mantle plumes and hotspots
- thermo-mechanical evolution of the whole earth
- crust-mantle interaction and chemical recycling
- magma formation, differentiation, transport, and emplacement
- plate driving mechanisms
- modeling of earthquakes
- rheology and mineral physics of earth materials
- ice sheet modeling, glacial isostasy, and mantle rheology
- lithosphere-asthenosphere interactions
- formation of continental lithosphere
- formation and destruction of oceanic lithosphere
