The Autobiographies of Edward Gibbon, ed. Sir John Murray. Contains the texts of all six drafts of the Memoirs. London: John Murray, 1896.
Gibbon, Edward. History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, ed. J. B. Bury. 7 vols. London: Methuen, 1896-1900. New editions of various volumes and the whole work until 1928. The Miscellaneous Works of Edward Gibbon, ed. John Lord Sheffield. 2 vols. London: Strahan, 1796. Includes works in English and French and a version of the memoirs, all heavily edited. The expanded version , in 5 volumes octavo, includes some works formerly published in the original French in English translation only. as well as Gibbon's first work, his Essai sur l'etude de la litterature, in both French and English. It was published by John Murray in 1815 [dated 1814], along with a quarto volume containing most of the added material, for the benefit of the owners of the 1796 Miscellaneous Works.
