1. The title Alice in Wonderland (and its earlier title, Alice's Adventures Underground) imply that the whole story takes place in a special world.  How is that implication both true and false?  How do the respective titles relate to the nature of dreams?

2. Do any human adults appear in Alice? How are adults represented in the book, and what does that have to do with nonsense?

3. What does Alice learn about size and identity in the course of the book?

4. What does the reader discover about the lives of Victorian middle and upper class children from reading Alice?

5. How does death appear in the book?  How is this question related to questions 1 and 2?

6.  Does Alice in Wonderland meet Alice's description of a desirable book?  What else does Carroll seem to think children's books require?
