Lab I on Microfossils:
Calcareous nannofossils, diatoms, radiolaria, silicoflagellates,
pollen, spores, acritarchs, chitinozoans, and dinoflagellates
Meeting Place for labs: Dr.
Ciesielski will be conducting Lab I in Williamson Hall. Meet in the regular
lab location for a introduction.
Objectives:

To observe and acquaint you with the aforementionedfossils
groups by:
-
observation in a transmitted light microscope,
-
observation on a TV linked to the microscope,
-
examination of representative line drawings and micrographs,
-
taking photographs of represenative taxa.

To introduce you to the proper use of a research
quality transmitted light microscope
Preparation:
-
come prepared to take notes
-
read your lecture notes on these fossil groups prior to coming to lab
