About me:

My research focuses on issues in personal autonomy and moral responsibility and, more recently, on evil and psychopathy, and on self-identity and self-knowledge.  My teaching interests center on these areas as well as topics in Philosophy of Law.  I have taught at universities in California and Ohio before joining the faculty at UF in 2003.  During the past year I have been on a sabbatical leave, and completed a book, Personal Autonomy in Society (Ashgate, 2006).  I spent the Spring 2007 semester as a visiting professor at Utrecht University in the Netherlands and cannot wait to finagle a return.  I will be leaving UF to join the Philosophy Department at the University of California, Davis, in the fall of 2009.
