The
Xingu
Ethnoarchaeological project began in the early 1990's under the
direction of Dr. Michael Heckenberger now at the University of
Florida. The project, now in it's second decade, continues to
combine archaeology and ethnography to describe 2000 years of
indigenous history in the southern Amazon. Below is an overview
map of the project
area. You can
explore selected archaeological sites by clicking the links at the top
of the map. Further links to excavation illustrations and
photographs of the sites can be found within those pages.
