contrast to other utopian writers, with Karel Čapek we have reached a
world where the future may be more imperfect than perfect, a world
closer to a dystopia than a utopia.
In bullet point fashion, list five dystopic elements of a future
society that he highlights in R.U.R.. What problems will Čapek’s future
society be forced to contend with? Make sure you give specific

Čapek, however, is not completely negative. There are signs of
hope and future promise. In your reading of R.U.R. in conjunction
with his brief essay, “Let’s be revolutionary”, in a brief paragraph
highlight what you believe is Čapek’s vision of an ideal society.
