Language and Memory in Dyslexic Adults

Extensive research on dyslexia in school-aged children has identified a range of difficulties affecting language and verbal memory. However, very little research has been done to determine if these difficulties resolve or persist into adulthood. * To address this question, we are currently recruiting 25 adults (age 16-60) with dyslexia or undiagnosed reading problems. The study requires 2 2-hour visits: Participants are reimbursed $35 for their time.

Typicality Effects on Alzheimer’s Naming

We are currently recruiting 15 healthy adults over 60 to serve as control subjects in a study testing a potential therapy for the word finding problems experienced by individuals with dementia. You must be a native speaker of English with no history of neurological disease or brain trauma to participate. * The study requires 1 2-hour visit; participants are reimbursed $15 for their time.

Concept Combination in Dementia

This is a pilot study investigating the ability to combine concepts into sentences in healthy older adults and individuals with dementia. This study may help us develop a tool to aid in the early diagnosis of dementia and in the differential diagnosis of different types of dementia. We are currently recruiting 20 adults with mild Alzheimer disease and 20 adults over 60 with no history of neurological disease or brain trauma.  * The study requires 3 2-hour visits spread over 3 weeks. Participants are reimbursed $60 for their time.
