LAH4630:  Brazil After 1750

                                                                     Spring 2008

                                           Final Examination:  Questions and Format

The examination will be held on the date and at the time published in the course schedule; it will consist of one of the questions from Section A and three of the items from Section B.  Section A will be worth up to forty points; Section B will be worth up to sixty (i.e., each item will be worth twenty points).  I will announce which of the questions and items you will address at the time of the examination.  Note that, regarding the items in Section B, you are to write a short essay that goes beyond the mere identity of the item to explain its significance within the larger historical context which concerns us.

I encourage you to make outlines of the essential points for each question and item as part of your preparatory studies.  You may not, however, bring such outlines nor any other aids to your desk at the time of the examination -- only two bluebooks will be allowed.  Note that you should write only your University of Florida Identification number and the class and date on these bluebooks.  They should  be brought to class on the day of the last session.  If you do not have them, you should leave them at 311 Grinter by the end of that week.  They will be examined and marked then return them to you before the examination.  Only such marked bluebooks will be accepted for grading.

Demonstrate your mastery of the material from the texts and lectures by the use of appropriate details and by clear organization of ideas.  Lack of detail, or inappropriate detail, may count against you.  Please remember the time restriction -- you must choose the most essential matters for emphasis.
