The purpose of this class is to reinforce grammatical concepts and to improve reading skills in ancient Greek, and to introduce students to the most influential and widely read Greek text in the original language.  The course will focus on the book of Acts.  NOTE: THE READINGS FOR THIS CLASS ARE IN ANCIENT GREEK; STUDENTS MUST HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED THE FIRST-YEAR ANCIENT GREEK SEQUENCE GRE 1130 & 1131 OR EQUIVALENT COURSEWORK.

class participation = 10% of total grade: full credit will be given to students who come to class prepared to translate and discuss the assigned passages. ATTENDANCE is mandatory; the final grade will drop for every 3 missed classes (example: student earning an A will receive an A- after 3 missed classes, a B+ after 6 missed classes, and so on).
Excused absences are granted only for documented illness, family emergency, or UF-sanctioned activity (such as athletics).

quizzes (non-cumulative) = 60% of total grade: 11 brief unannounced quizzes will be administered at the beginning of class throughout the semester, of which the BEST 10 will be used to calculate the final grade.

exams (non-cumulative): 10% each = 30% of total grade
Exam 1: Monday, February 13
Exam 2: Monday, March 19
Exam 3: Wednesday April 25 (last class day)

grading scale: A= 90 and above; A- = 87-89; B+ = 84-86; B = 80-83; B- = 77-79; C+ = 74-76; C = 70-73; C- = 67-69 (note that UF does not consider a C- to be a passing grade); D+ = 64-66; D = 60-63; D- = 57-59; E = 56 and below for UF policy on minus-grades, see http://www.isis.ufl.edu/minusgrades.html
