   We will be reading selections from a variety of Greek poets from the Archaic through the Hellenistic periods. Our goals will include improving translation skills and understanding the texts in their cultural and historical contexts.

PLEASE NOTE: READINGS FOR THIS CLASS ARE IN ANCIENT GREEK. ALL STUDENTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED AT LEAST THE FIRST-YEAR ANCIENT GREEK LANGUAGE SEQUENCE (GRE1130 & 1131).

class participation = 10% of total grade: full credit will be given to students who come to class prepared to translate.
