ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE:
Acting Chair: Department of Romance Languages and Literatures
(Fall 2000-01)
Chief administrative officer in the Department: appointing of Administrative Officers of the Department; selection of members of standing non-elected Department Committees; presiding over Department meetings and preparation of agenda; supervision of day-to-day activities and of 5-member office staff; coordination of new faculty searches in conjunction with appropriate search committees; general spokesperson for the Department.
Chief financial officer: supervising of all receipts of money and expenditures; with the advice of the Advisory Committee, preparation of annual academic program review and budget proposal for the Dean
Academic officer: coordination of all aspects of the academic
program, such as degree requirements, curricular offerings, catalog announcements,
class scheduling and faculty assignments. Oversee tenure and promotion
process in coordination with T&P Committee; write transmission letters.

RESPONSIBILITIES
In charge of articulating Department's teaching schedules in conjunction
with the graduate and undergraduate advisors and the College schedule officer.
Maintenance of proper course rotations, request for adequate space and time slots, and development of faculty assignments.
Represent the interests of the Department, both fiscal and academic, before the Council of Chairs of the College in the absence of our Chair.
Ex-officio member of the Department's Advisory Council--charged with developing programmatic modifications and policies at the undergraduate as well graduate levels.
Director of Beginning and Intermediate Spanish Language Programs
(1980-1990) (1993-1994)
Supervision of approximately 27 instructors which involved classroom visitations and annual evaluations submitted to the Spanish Section of Department.
Textbook evaluation and supervision of testing instruments
Workshops on Proficiency, including training of G.T.A.'s and Lecturers on Oral Proficiency Interview.
Attended all meetings of the Exam Development Committee, evaluate questions and participate in exams preparation
Organized and supervised annual national reading of the examination—over 70,000 examinations in language and literature in Reading 2000.
Developed annual rubrics for exam grading
Organized and coordinated all cultural activities which take place during the annual Reading of the Exam: invited writers, actors, musicians, dance groups
Participated in national and international conferences devoted to the discussion of the Spanish AP program
Determined cut-off points and interpret statistical information during the Grade Setting process
