Interpelvic Metaphor
![]() Gestures are invented, evolve, and become iconic. The hula hipswing is one of the iconic gestures of American pop culture. Following the syncretic logic of primitivism, the gesture is imported into Entertainment through the tamed tourist version of native island ritual, such as the familiar Hawaiian Hula dance. This dance is in the family of duende or embodied eidos. This pelvic gesture is also referenced in the puncept hip, as in referring to someone who is "hip." The term "hippies" is also in this formless category, indicating the removal of repression from the lower body in the new era. This gathering of terms and gestures is an electrate practice, not recognized within literacy (except by artists). |
