De viaje a los paradores españoles Los paradores son una cadena de hoteles en España. Y ya hemos aprendido un poco sobre su historia. Ahora, por medio de la Red (WWW), vamos a viajar a España y conocer estos paradaores.

I. LLEGAR A LA PÁGINA

Para esta actividad, vas a trabajar con un compañero/ una compañera.
Véte a la página http://www.parador.es/
Ante todo, haz click en la banderita española. (Está a la izquierda de todas.) Esto hace que la actividad sea en español. Si la intentas hacer en inglés, hay graves consecuencias. . . .

II. ¡BIENVENIDOS!

Haz click en "Carta de bienvenida." Como nunca has estado en un parador antes, quieres leer un poco sobre lo que ofrecen.
Contesta las siguientes preguntas:

¿Cuántos paradores hay en toda España? __________________________
En el segundo párrafo se mencionan tres distintas razones por las cuales podrás disfrutar de los paradores. Nombra una. ____________________________
¿Cómo es la comida en los paradores, y cómo la preparan? _________________________
¿Cuál es la meta ("goal") de los paradores, y cómo la van a conseguir? _________________________

III. A ESCOGER EL PARADOR IDEAL

Ya que sabemos aún más, tú y tu compañero vais a escoger un parador que os guste.

Primero, hagad click en el botón de atrás ("Back") para volver a la página anterior.
Antes de hacer nada más, tomad un minuto para hablar de las cosas que son importantes cuando se escoge un hotel: lugar, precio, actividades que ofrece, etc. Escribid las dos características más importantes para vosotros/as:

Estáis ya en vuestro parador preferido. (Si resulta que no os gusta, podéis volver al Mapa general y escoger otro, pero rápidamente.)

Usando solamente los iconos al margen izquierdo de la página (los dibujitos), hagad una lista de algunas de las cosas que ofrece este Parador. (Si no sabéis lo que significa un icono, poned el cursor encima de él y dirá a qué se refiere.)

Ahora, usando las fotos que están en la página (mirad abajo también, porque muchas veces hay varias fotos), escribid algunos adjetivos que describen el lugar. ¿Es bonito, tropical, industrial, natural, lleno de gente, etc. etc. etc.?

V. PARA HACER EN EL PARADOR

Tomad algunos minutos para contestar las preguntas a continuación:

¿Qué actividades ofrece el parador? ¿Esto os gusta o no? (Pensad en las cosas que eran importantes del número III arriba.)
¿Hay excursiones que podáis hacer desde el parador? ¿A dónde?
¿Hay fiestas regionales que se celebren allí durante el año? ¿Cuándo?

Ahora, leed el texto que acompaña esta página. ¿Hay alguna información nueva? ¿Hay algo que NO os guste de este parador? ¿Qué?

VI. LA DECISIÓN

Decidid si os gustaría viajar a este parador o no. Luego, escribid algunas frases explicando por qué sí o por qué no vais a ir allí. Finalmente, escribidme una "tarjeta postal" describiendo vuestras vacaciones en este Parador y hablando de la comida, las actividades, la región, etc.

Travelling to the Spanish Paradors The "paradors" are a chain of hotels in Spain. We've already learned a little bit about their history. Now, through the Internet (WWW), we're going to travel to Spain to get to know these paradors better.

I. GETTING TO THE WEB PAGE

For this activity, you'll work with a partner from class.
Go to this web page: http://www.parador.es/
First, click on the appropriate flag to choose your language.

II. WELCOME!

Click on the "Welcome letter." Since you've never been in a parador before, you want to read a little bit about what they offer.
Answer the following questions:

How many para dors are there in all of Spain? __________________________
In the second paragraph they mention three different reasons that you'll enjoy the paradors. Name one. ____________________________
What is the food like in the paradors, and how do they prepare it? _________________________
What is the goal of the paradors, and how are they going to achieve that goal? _________________________

III. CHOOSING THE IDEAL PARADOR

Now that you know a little more about the paradors, you and your partner are going to pick a parador that you like.

Before going any further, take a minute to talk about the things that are important to you when you choose a hotel: place, price, activities, etc. Write the two most important characteristics here:

What activities does the parador offer? Do you like them or not? (Remember the things you discussed in III., above.)
Are there excursions you can take from this parador? Where do they go?
Are there regional parties celebrated througout the year? When?

Now, read the text that accompanies this page. Is there any new information? Is there anything you DON'T like about this parador? What?

VI. THE DECISION

Now decide if you would like to travel to this parador or not, and think about the reasons for your decision. Then, write me this "postcard" describing your vacation in this parador. Don't forget to talk about the region, the food, the hotel, the activities, etc.
