Preliminary step
Decide among yourselves what is the topic that you would like to explore. Use the sites listed on your assigned chapter  as a guide for your search.  However, do not limit yourself just to the sites provided; conduct searches of your own as well (in Spanish!).  A few search engines you could use (for any of the chapters) are:

Step 1: Chapters 1-6 | Chapters 7-12


cuentosChapter 1:  The theme of your presentation is "story telling." Some topics you may want to explore are folk tales, legends, myths, historical events, life/work of writers, etc.   But whatever your topic is, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic culture. Some topics you can explore are ecological movements or problems, scientists and their work, art and technology, etc.  But whatever the topic you choose, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic world. derechos humanosChapter 3:  The theme of your presentation is "human rights."  Investigate an event related to human rights, find out about famous people who have founded or support humanitarian organizations, or about people who have fought for human rights in their countries or participated in political protests. You can also investigate the political situation (present or past) of a country of your choice. But whatever the topic you choose, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic world. lorcaChapter 4:  The theme of your presentation is "personality." Investigate the personality traits, the phobias, vices and/or the routine of a famous person. You may also talk about these things in a more general fashion. But whatever the topic you choose, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic world. familiaChapter 5:  The theme of your presentation is "family and relationships." Some topics you can explore are: the differences between the traditional family and the modern family, the perfect couple, family values, customs and traditions, etc.  But whatever the topic you choose, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic world.  The following links should get you started on your search.


artistasChapter 6:  You are in charge of the entertainment!  Find out more about the show bussiness in Hispanic countries.  You can do your presentation on a Spanish-language film or on the work of Latin artists. You can also compare the styles and rhytms of some Latin music or dances.  Check out the following pages to get you started on your search.


Chapter 7:  The theme of your presentation is "human diversity." Some topics you may want to explore are diversity, human rights, women in Hispanic society, gypsies, etc. But whatever your topic is, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic culture. Chapter 8:  The theme of your presentation is "food and nutrition." Some topics you may want to explore are trends and tastes in foods, diets, and recipies, traditional food dishes of the Hispanic world, healthy eating, etc.   But whatever your topic is, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic culture. Chapter 9:  The theme of your presentation is "a society in crisis." Some topics you may want to explore are prevalent social problems, terrorism, volunteerism, gangs and crime, drug abuse, etc.   But whatever your topic is, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic culture. Chapter 10:  The theme of your presentation is "business and economy." Some topics you may want to explore are job opportunities, free trade, national and international economic issues, inflation, standard of living, etc.   But whatever your topic is, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic culture. Chapter 11:
  The theme of your presentation is "free time." Some topics you may want to explore are hobbies, sports, indoor and outdoor traditional activities, vacations, etc.   But whatever your topic is, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic culture. Chapter 12:
  The theme of your presentation is "the 21st century." Some topics you may want to explore are what life will be like in the future, the role of technology in our future, possible scientific developments, etc.   But whatever your topic is, remember that it must be related to the Hispanic culture. Step 2

After you have searched the web and gathered all the information for your topic, create a powerpoint presentation.  Be sure to include the following information:
 


Also remember to include photos and images. In fact, you should aim to have more pictures than text. Your sentences should be brief just to highlight key vocabulary words, main points or ideas and to help the others students follow your presentation.



Step 3

After you finish your  presentation, you will present it orally to the class on the day you signed up for, and your instructor will grade your presentation as well as your oral performance.  Make sure you read the evaluation page (see your syllabus) so you know what you will be graded on.
