Research Interests
My main area of interest is in aphasia, both with monolingual
English and Spanish/English bilingual speakers.
In particular, I am interested in:
- Developing novel theoretically motivated treatments
promoting
generalization* in aphasia.
- Characterizing
verb deficits in persons with aphasia.
- Understanding the
relationship between pre-morbid language proficiency abilities and
treatment outcomes in bilingual
speakers .
- Lexical
semantics processing of verbs and their thematic roles.
*Generalization
refers to improvement on items or tasks that were not specifically
trained in treatment. With respect to bilingual speakers,
crosslinguistic generalization, or improvement in the untrained
language, is a primary goal.
See
my CV for
publications.
