Debate # 1 -- November 4 (Drug Testing in the Workplace)
   
    Resolved:  Public employees should be subject to drug testing as a condition for the receipt and maintenance of employment.

Debate # 2 – October 7 (Affirmative Action)

    Resolved:  State and local governments should be required to vigorously pursue affirmative action efforts on behalf of women and minorities including hiring quotas and minority set asides.

Debate # 3 – October 14 (The Right to Strike)

    Resolved:   Public employees, including teachers, police, and fire personnel should have the right to union representation and the right to strike.

Debate # 4 -- October  21 (Privatization of the Schools)

    Resolved:  The state of Florida should adopt a voucher system whereby parents can choose to send their children to the public or private school of their choice.

Debate # 5 – October 28 (The Public Option)


   Resolved:  The United States should include a public option in any national health plan.

           The format for each debate will be: Opening Arguments -- 15 minutes each side
                                                                     Rebuttal -- 5 minutes
                                                                     Questions from class

            TIME LIMITS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!!

Each debater will provide a one-page summary of their arguments together with their bibliography.
