Debate # 1–  (Affirmative Action) – September 28


    Resolved:  State and local governments should be required to vigorously pursue affirmative action efforts on behalf of women and minorities including hiring quotas and minority set asides.

Debate # 2 - (Drug Testing in the Workplace) -- October 5

   

    Resolved:  Public employees should be subject to drug testing as a condition for the receipt and maintenance of employment.

Debate # 3 – (The Right to Strike) – October 12


    Resolved:   Public employees, including teachers, police, and fire personnel should have the right to union representation and the right to strike.

Debate # 4 -- (Privatization of the Schools) – October 19


    Resolved:  The state of Florida should adopt a voucher system whereby parents can choose to send their children to the public or private school of their choice.

Debate # 5 – (Church and State) – November 2


   Resolved:  The federal government should take those actions necessary to restore the separation of church and state guaranteed by the nation’s founders in the U.S. Constitution.  Among other things the federal government (and given the supremacy of the U.S. Constitution all governments) should cease providing any support to religious organizations (including parochial schools, social service providers, and church-sponsored hospitals).
