Course Description:

In this course, we’ll cover the essential elements of writing clearly and effectively—at the level of sentences, paragraphs, and entire arguments. Using a cognitive approach to writing, we’ll spend roughly half of the term intensively focusing on the four Cs for writing with maximum effectiveness: clarity, cohesion, coherence, and concision. We’ll also cover the fundamentals of arguments: types of arguments, claims, evidence, and logic. And, finally, we’ll also work on research, documentation, and avoiding plagiarism.
