Aida A. Bamia Through the Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures, I teach the language, literature, and Arabic cultural courses listed below. Follow the links to see a syllabus and brief course  description of each class.   Arabic Language: Elementary Modern Standard Arabic, Begining to Advanced Levels  Arabic Literature: Classical Arabic Literature; Modern Arabic Literature Arabic Culture: An introductory course covering various aspects of Arabic culture and history  Arab Woman: A course on the role of women in Arab societies through modern times  Arabic Folklore: A course exploring different folktales in Arabic culture  The Maghrib and its Peoples: A course focusing on the culture and history of the North African portion of the Islamic world In addition, I act as the faculty coordinator for the Arabic study abroad program, held every summer in Fez, Morocco. Finally, I am also the Editor for the journal Al-'Arabiyya, the Journal of the American Association of Teachers of Arabic. Published annually, we are currently working on the thirtieth volume.
