My research interests are aimed at understanding the geomorphic evolution of landscapes that result from the interaction of coastal, fluvial, and tectonic processes.  My primary methods include real-time instrumentation to examine physical processes, digital elevation analyses to examine landscape form, and numerical modeling to link process and form together. I’m currently focusing on field sites along the Florida Atlantic coast, the Southern California bight, and the Kenai Peninsula in South Central Alaska.  If you are a prospective graduate student interested in studying geomorphology at the University of Florida, I encourage you to contact me via email: adamsp[at]ufl.edu

My teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in Environmental/Engineering Geology and Coastal Processes, and graduate courses in Geomorphology and Numerical Methods.  In teaching my courses, I try to include examples that stress the importance of quantitative calculations in the Earth Sciences.
