CLAS Students Lead in Fulbright Scholarships for Academic Year

For the 2009-2010 academic year, eight UF students were chosen to receive Fulbright U.S. Student Scholarships. Of the eight UF students chosen, five of them were CLAS students.

Fulbright scholarships are available to graduating seniors and graduate students looking to pursue their chosen field of study in one of 140 countries. The program was founded in 1946 and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

“The Fulbright program provides an amazing opportunity for our students to conduct international research and teaching at a time when cultural exchange has never been more important,” said John Denny, UF Honors Program associate director. “This year’s group is representative of the creative ideas and outstanding academic preparation of our students, as well as the excellent mentoring provided by the UF faculty.”
