10:00: Welcome/introduction (Mark Greenberg, USF Special Collections; James D'Emilio, USF Humanities)

10:30: Session 1, discussion of precirculated papers
-Florin Curta (University of Florida), Merovingian and Carolingian Gift-Giving
-Mary Jane Schenck (University of Tampa), "The Mission of Charlemagne in Spain Seen Through the Window at Chartres Cathedral"
-Tison Pugh (University of Central Florida), "'He nedes moot unto the pley  assente': Queer Fidelities and Contractual Hermaphroditism in Chaucer¹s  Clerk¹s Tale."
12:30: lunch and a viewing of the third of the Sacred Leaves exhibits at  the USF library: Liturgy and Devotion, Manuscripts from England to Ethiopia; the curator, Lesley Stone, will present the exhibition.

2:00 - 4:30: Session 2 - we envision a series of shorter "introductions" of research projects or issues in teaching and curricular development. Ideally, we could precirculate something modest, a grant proposal or a syllabus, for example, and allot 15-20 minutes for each individual resentation/discussion.
Those interested should submit proposals now.

The Florida MedievaList is an initiative of Professor James D'Emilio at the University of South Florida. It is an email discussion list which will function as an electronic forum for the exchange of ideas and information among medievalists on a statewide basis.
