UF in Merida

Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced level Spanish (3 transfer credits)

The Spanish course is taught by members of CODI (Coordinacion de Idiomas) in the Faculty of Education at UADY. The class is generally offered at three levels, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Because our groups are small, additional courses are sometimes offered for those who have almost no Spanish background or for those who are very advanced. During the first day of class, you will be asked to converse with instructors and be given a brief written exam for the purposes of placement. There is some flexibility and students who are progressing very well after a week or two may be moved into a more advanced class.

The credit hours of Spanish taken on this program may be used to fulfill your language requirement by taking the SAT 2 test at the University of Florida when you return. More importantly, the program helps you really learn Spanish in everyday settings. You will be amazed at the increased proficiency you gain from living in the Yucatan.
