LOVETT¹S FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT AT LARGE HOSTS IALL WORKSHOPS
Under the leadership of Mr. Marc Mallet, Lovett School's Foreign Language Lab Director, Lovett hosted its first International Association for Learning Laboratories set of workshops January 24 & 25. Representatives from six different schools and 37 attendees took advantage of this opportunity. Presenting was Lee Ann Stone, past president of IALL, co-founder of the South West Association for Learning Technologies and IALL representative to the Language Laboratories Association of Japan (LLA). The first day was devoted to learning how to design effective task-based activities for the language lab. After being introduced to the lab, receiving lab management tips and being given active demonstrations of lab activities, the afternoon was devoted to brainstorming new communicative lab tasks. The second day was spent learning to surf the World Wide Web to create foreign language activities based on the WWW. Teachers were grateful for all the new teaching ideas they went home with. As the two-day workshop concluded, Mr. Mallet accepted the nomination of Regional Coordinator for IALL.
