"My project concerns an area of the world which I have previously had little academic experience with. I am interested in learning more about Hungary's economic issues, and hope to shed some light on the nation's increasing debt problem. (What do you plan to get out of the Program) I am looking forward to finishing my career as an undergraduate at the University of Florida in the fall, and continuing on to graduate school. I am thrilled to start my research work with this project, and hope to do similar work in the future."

Research Description
Indebtedness Cycles in Hungary

My work focuses on indebtedness in the eastern-european nation of Hungary.I will focus on two different eras: the 1970's, during which Hungary began to seek out loans and assistance from entities such as the World Bank and the IMF after the nation's "New Economic Mechanism" failed, and the 1990's when personal and private debt became more of an issue.I will explore the economic and political issues involved in Hungary's many failed attempts at reform, as well as the problems the nation faces in today's global economic crisis.
