Research Description:
The Bollywood Bust Out
My study is an analysis of an unprecedented trends taking place in Western cinema. Currently, there is a unique influx of Indian and Bollywood themed films into western cinema. After establishing that there is in fact a revolutionary trend taking place, my study attributes the trend, known as the “Bollywood Bust Out” to three specific forces:
- The growth of India’s economy and the expanding middle class
- The success of Indian immigrants in the west
- Growth of first generation Indian immigrant film directors
The purpose of the analysis is to provide insight on an intercultural language: film. This insight contributes to the grasp individuals have on intercultural theory and the transmission of cultural ideas from one culture to another, especially through an avenue such as film.
