"I applied to the USP because I wanted to accomplish the completion of a long-term project because I had never done in-depth research over a short period of time before. I wanted to learn about the scholarly method and the discipline and creativity it takes to complete such a project."

Research Description:
Content Analysis of Political Action Committee Websites During the 2004 Presidential Race
In preparation, I will review existing literature on the broad topic of the Internet's role in politics. Based on this framework, I will develop analysis questions and categories of content that applies to political action committee (PAC) websites. After developing a coding system with which to analyze and compare these websites, I will view and code websites periodically during the 2004 presidential race between Labor Day and Election Day. My final project will detail my literature review, the methodology I used to analyze PAC websites during the given time period, the results I found, and discussion of these results and their conceptual and practical implications.
