Best Paper Competition Deadline Feb. 1
The deadline to submit papers for the University Scholars Program’s 2005 Best Paper Competition is February 1, 2005. To enter, you must be a 2004-2005 University Scholar in good standing. The contest is judged each spring by a committee appointed by the Dial Center for Written and Oral Communication and winners will be announced at the USP’s Annual Spring Banquet in April. Four awards, totaling $1,000, will recognize the two best qualitative and quantitative research articles.

Submissions must total no more than 2,000 words, not including graphs, tables, and figures, and follow the general format of papers published in the Journal of Undergraduate Research. Entries should be sent to Susan Ciccarone at susanc@cwoc.ufl.edu. All papers submitted to the JUR by February 1—including both published papers and those under review—will qualify and be automatically submitted to the contest unless otherwise requested by the author.

Annual Spring Symposium
The annual spring symposium for the University Scholars Program will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005. Students in the USP will present 15-minute talks on their research in small group sessions in the company of other USP scholars and mentors.
