"I believe that the USP allows me the ability to do higher level research, which is relevant to my major, while building a relationship with a faculty member within my department. I hope that this will lead me to be better prepared for graduate school and gain a better understanding of the graduate academic environment."

Eric is a senior majoring in public relations. His academic interests center around public relations ethics and political communication. He is a member of the UF Preview staff and serves as a public relations intern in the Office of Student Activities. Eric is also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and is a resident assistant in Murphree Hall.

Research Description:

Public Relation Ethics

I am researching the ethical views across public relation practitioners. Specifically, I will compare political consultants, mainstream public relation practitioners, and those in the educational realm that still practice public relations. I will be using the American Association of Political Consultants and Public Relation Society of America as my base lines for standards of ethical conduct. My goal is to establish if all the negative media coverage of public relations in the political arena is warranted, as well as to see how the ethical view of those in politics compare to those in corporate America and academia.
