Checklist for Applying to IDS Program
- Information and application (PDF) may be obtained from the IDS website, under Information for Students.
- Review IDS procedures and requirements, frequently asked questions, self evalution and application requirements.
- Decide on areas of concentration and unifying theme.
- Have preliminary conference with concentration to work on finalizing application for submission. Meet with faculty advisors chosen and give them the information sheet for advisors. Or arrange to meet with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (for individualized Studies) in 2014 Turlington Hall.
- Develop a program. Secure faculty sponsors. Select courses. Your program of study and thesis proposal should be developed in consultation with your advisors. Your advisors should read and give feedback on a preliminary version of your tehsis proposal. If there are changes, incorporate them into the final version for the application. Faculty sponsors must be permanent, tenured or tenure-tracked faculty.
- Submit formal application and all supporting documentation to director of IDS program, 2014 Turlington Hall, for committee review. Keep a copy for yourself.
- Receive
one of the following responses from the committee:
Pursue program, or
Revise and Resubmit, or
Seek Alternate Major
Application Submission Deadlines
- September 15
- November 1
- February 15
- April 1
