Internship Requirements
Upon completion of your internship, a journal and 5-7 page report are to be turned into 2014 Turlington Hall in order to receive credit for the course. Please review guidelines below:
Journal: The purpose of the journal is to keep a daily account of your internship experience, and to reflect on your goals, responsibilities, tasks, and outcomes. At least three of your entries must reflect the following topics:
- What are my goals for this internship opportunity? (This should be the very first journal that you write.)
- What has been the most challenging aspect of this position so far? (This should be completed midway through your internship.)
- How has this experience shaped my perception of the industry and interest in the field? (This should be one of your very last journal entries, and can be expounded on in your final report.)
Each journal entry must be at least one paragraph long (4-5 sentences). Entries can be typed or hand-written as long as writing is legible.
Final Report: The final report is an in-depth summary of your internship experience. Here are some questions to think about when constructing your report:
- What did I enjoy most about the internship?
- What did I enjoy least?
- What was the most exciting task that I was charged with?
- What were some challenges that presented themselves?
- How did what I was doing relate to my interests in the field?
- Is this something I would like to do again? With the same company?
- How has this experience influenced my perception and/or interest in the industry? The field?
This report must be 5-7 pages, double-spaced, 1" margins, 12pt Times New Roman font.
