Faculty Council Task Force on the Future of CLAS
The charge of this Task Force is to develop a response to the fundamental question: How can the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences fulfill its core missions of teaching, research, and service so as best to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century given its straitened financial circumstances? In executing this charge, the Task Force will explore the sort of changes, structural or otherwise, that would enable the College to function better on its reduced scale and more successfully under RCM. The Task Force will also highlight the entrepreneurial efforts already being implemented within the College, as well as ideas for other such efforts and innovations it might undertake, so as to reposition itself successfully in the changing higher educational environment. The members of the Task Force are: Robert D'Amico (Philosophy), Bonnie Effros (History), David Foster (Geology), Marty Heesacker (Psychology), Jean Larson (Mathematics), Michael Martinez (Political Science), Carolyn Tucker (Psychology), Mary Watt (LLC), and Rick Yost (Chemistry). Liaisons to the Task Force are: Scott Nygren (UF Faculty Senate), Dave Richardson (CLAS Dean's Office), John Palmer (CLAS Faculty Council).
