Community Engagement & Digital Storytelling Presentations

April 13, 2022 at 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Wednesday, April 13, 2022

3:00 – 4:30 pm

Scott Nygren Scholars Studio at Library West

The Department of English’s undergraduate Community Engagement honors seminar students partnered with Weavetales, a non-profit organization focused on highlighting immigrant experiences in Florida. Students in this course worked on writing and producing digital stories with immigrants in our community. These stories will be published by Weavetales and highlighted in a future museum exhibit.

During the event, students, community partners and members of the local community will get together to share these stories, discuss the importance of digital storytelling and dialogue about how community engagement could be further centralized in English studies.

Snacks and beverages will be provided. Open to the public. The event organizers are also collecting book and cash donations for Gainesville Books to Prisoners.

Sponsors:

Marston-Milbauer Eminent Scholar, the Working Group for the Study of Critical Theory, and the Department of English
