Intensive Intermediate German 2009 in Mannheim, Germany

Summer B Session (note the dates!): July 3-August 14, 2009

Mannheim provides a prime example of modern German urban life, offering also a unique blend of cultural and economic activities in the heart of the historic Palatinate region.

In UF's "Intensive Intermediate German" program in Mannheim, Germany, students earn up to nine credits in German language and culture in classes taught by instructors at the University of Mannheim. Students prepare themselves for the “Zertifikat Deutsch,” an internationally recognized document proving a working knowledge of German, the ability to negotiate all kinds of every-day situations, and command of basic grammatical structures and vocabulary.

In the Summer 08 Intensive Intermediate Program, the "Intensive Intermediate" Program was very successful: all the program participant passed the Zertifikat Deutsch Exam, with four of the eleven students achieving the highest possible score.

UF's "Intensive Intermediate German" program is a total language and culture immersion program. Classes are taught by experienced German instructors of the University of Mannheim. Students are encouraged to speak German at all times. Students also participate in an “Interaction Partner” program which pairs American and German students. The students meet at least twice a week to improve their ability to speak and understand the German language as they gain insights into everyday life in the local community.
