Anthropology
- Professor Sue Boinski’s work observing capuchin monkey’s mating behaviors in the dense forests of Suriname will be featured on the PBS show Nature scheduled to air April 13.
- Professor Connie Mulligan was quoted in a Feb. 13 Reuters story about her research that found early migrants from Asia to the New World stayed possibly 20,000 years on a strip of land called Beringia that once connected Alaska to Siberia. The story also was the subject of numerous other media reports, including one on The Discovery Channel.
English
- Graduate student Christopher Garland’s article about Cité Soleil, Haiti, “Where the Sun Never Shines,” recently appeared in the world section of the New Zealand Herald.
- Associate Professor Roger Beebe’s role in organizing FLEXfest 2008 was highlighted recently in a video on Gainesville Sun’s web site.
- On February 8, as part of a month-long series on African Americans in film, Tony Cox of National Public Radio’s News & Notes interviewed Professor Mark A. Reid.
Geology
- Associate Professor Elizabeth J. Screaton was featured in Science Magazine, talking about her earthquake and tsunami research aboard the new ocean drilling vessel Chikyu.
History
- History Professor William Link's book "Righteous Warrior: Jesse Helms and the Rise of Modern Conservatism" was reviewed in the Feb. 10 New York Times Sunday Book Review. A review also appeared Feb. 12 in the Wall Street Journal, though a link is not available as the Journal is by paid subscription only.
Political Science
- Assistant Professor Michael Heaney was quoted in a Feb. 28 The Politico story about plans by anti-war groups to protest at this summer's Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Zoology
- Postdoctoral Research Associate Alexander Ophir was quoted in a Feb. 6 Nature story about UF's research of the mating behavior of prairie voles.
