Denise Caswell, office assistant in the Botany and Zoology Departments, was recognized by the University of Florida with a university-level Superior Accomplishment Awards.
Doug Soltis, chair of Botany, said that Denise's conrtibution is essential to the department.
"The excellent job that Denise does would merit award under any circumstances, but keeping a department running smoothly under such difficult circumstances and trying times deserves special merit" said Soltis.
"Had Denise been captain of the Titanic I can only imagine that many more would have made it to safety. She is relentless, imaginative, and resourceful. Denise's performance should not be underestimated."
Denise was awarded a $2,000 check, a commemorative plaque, and an invitation to the president's box during an upcoming home football game.
