Bernard Mair

Associate Dean of Information Resources & Technological Programs
Professor Bernard Mair has served as Associate Chair and Graduate Coordinator in the Mathematics Department at UF and as Head of the Mathematics Department at North Carolina State University.
A native of Jamaica, Dr. Mair received his B.Sc. (First Class Hons.) and M.Sc. from University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and Ph.D. from McGill University, Montreal. He held faculty positions at The Pennsylvania State University, and Texas Tech University before joining University of Florida in 1989. Since then he has held visiting professorships at Dartmouth College in the Mathematics Department and Emory University in the Department of Radiology. Mair has performed research in many areas, ranging from abstract harmonic analysis to statistical inverse estimation and image processing. He has received grants from the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research and the National Institutes of Health. His current research focuses on interdisciplinary research in numerical optimization, statistics, and medical imaging (especially cardiac).
