Majors

Proposing a New Major

The procedures for proposing a new major (undergraduate degree program) are described in detail on the Provost's website. The process involves preparing a pre-proposal that must be approved by the College Curriculum Committee (CCC) and the Office of the Provost before an actual proposal is submitted.

Revising a Major

Proposals to revise an existing major are submitted to the CCC, after departmental approval, through this form. The form requires current and proposed curricular lists in two columns, a rationale or justification for the proposed revision of the major, and an 8-semester tracking plan. These are required in order to notify the University Curriculum Committee of changes that will need to be made in the catalogue and advising. Once approved by the CCC, the proposal will be forwarded to the UCC, the Faculty Senate, and the Board of Trustees for final approval.

Adding an Option to a Major (BA, BS, Non-thesis)

Proposals to add an option to an existing major are submitted to the CCC, after departmental approval, through this form. The form requires the same information as the "Revise major" form, described above.
