Courses
To create or modify a course, please follow the instructions below.
How to create a new course:
You must first complete or provide the following documents:
- UCC1 form, which is also available at Academic Approval Tracking. For illustration, we're providing an example. For instructions on how to write proper course titles, please consult these guidelines.
- External Consultation form. This form should be included only in cases of actual or perceived overlap with other departments or colleges. The form is available at Academic Approval Tracking. We're providing this example.
- Syllabus. See our complete syllabus example. For more information see the University of Florida Policy on Course Syllabi (PDF) and Syllabus checklist.
Now go to the online curricular approval process website and click on "Undergraduate Curriculum" or "Graduate Curriculum" to add a new request by following the instructions under "Detailed steps." As part of this process, you will be prompted to upload the documents cited above into the online course approval system.
Seek approval from your departmental curriculum review committee. Once the department curriculum committee has approved the new course proposal and all comments from consultations have been received, the Chair/director can approve the on-line UCC1 with the appropriate attachments. The request will be forwarded automatically to the College Curriculum Committee.
