PROFESSOR OF JAPANESE The University of Florida, Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures, is seeking applicants for a position as visiting professor of Japanese literature or culture. Scholars in Japanese history, film, and the visual arts, or the study of material culture, are also welcome. The position is a one-year, full-time appointment beginning August, 2006. Teaching load is 2-2 and salary is competitive. We are particularly interested in candidates who can offer classes in literature and post-colonialism, but the field of specialization is open. Minimum qualifications include ABD/PhD in a related field and near-native proficiency in Japanese and English. KOREAN LANGUAGE LECTURER The University of Florida, Department of African and Asian Languages and Literatures, is seeking applicants for an annually renewable full-time position as Lecturer in Korean Language beginning Fall 2006. Candidates should have an MA in linguistics, Korean language teaching pedagogy, applied linguistics, second language acquisition or related field, and native/near-native proficiency in Korean and English. Preference is given to candidates with experience teaching at the US college level. Familiarity with current technologies in language teaching is a plus. Teaching duties include language instruction at all levels (course load 3/3). Salary and benefits are competitive.
