National Consortium for Teaching About Asia: UF Seminars2006 Summer Institute, July 9-21. This two-week intensive course will give middle and high school teachers an overview of Asian history, culture, politics, and art. Participants will produce a lesson plan for use in their classrooms, and learn how to implement Asia into their varied curricula. Benefits for teachers include on-site housing, college credit or in-service points, honoraria, and funding for library materials. Academic Year 2006-2007 Seminar, Sept. 16, Oct. 14, Nov. 4, Dec. 2, Jan. 13, Feb. 10, Mar. 10, and Apr. 14. Like the summer course, this seminar will give middle and high school teachers an overview of Asian history, culture, politics, and art. However, the academic year course runs over 8 months, meeting one Saturday per month. Participants will produce a lesson plan for use in their classrooms, and learn how to implement Asia into their varied curricula.
