K-12 OutreachFlorida Seminar for Teaching about Asia The UF Asian Studies Program coordinates two seminars for teachers, in association with the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia. The summer institute is a two-week intensive course, while the academic year program runs over 8 months, one Saturday per month. Each program offers middle and high school teachers the opportunity to learn about Asian history, culture, politics, and art, and ways to integrate Asia into their curricula. Seminars are led by experts in the field. Teachers will develop and present a lesson plan, and will meet for a foll0w-up session to analyze how they were able to integrate their lesson plan into their year of instruction. Benefts for teachers in either seminar include college credit or in-service points, honoraria, seminar materials, funding for their schools' libraries, and on-site housing for the summer seminar. Please click here for more information about our seminars and for application instructions. Summer 2007 and academic year 2007-2008 applications are currently available.. The Florida Seminar for Teaching on Asia is delighted to announce the second study tour to China and Korea, set for June 2007.
