Overview and Goals
Academic Year 2009-2010 Seminar dates are Oct. 10, Oct. 24, Nov.14, Dec. 5, Jan. 16, Feb. 13, Mar. 20, and Apr. 17. Like the summer course, this seminar will give middle and high school teachers an overview of Asian history, culture, politics, and art. However, the academic year course runs during the academic year, meeting roughly one Saturday per month. Participants will produce a lesson plan for use in their classrooms, and will learn how to implement Asia into their varied curricula. Benefits for teachers include college credit or in-service points, honoraria, and funding for library materials.
