1949
Al Burt (English), roving columnist for the Miami Herald from 1973-95, recently published his third book, a collection of essays titled Al Burt's Florida: Snowbirds, Sand Castles, and Self-Rising Crackers (Florida Press). After 45 years of journalism, Burt has retired to Melrose.
1965
Stanley T. Escudero is currently serving as US Ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan. Ambassador Escudero has over thirty years of foreign service including extensive experience in Central Asia, Iran, South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa as well as in Washington. From 1992 to 1995 he served as the Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan.
1968
Harry A. Magee (BA '68, MA '69) has been appointed Instructor in the Graduate Counseling Program at Barry University in Miami.
1971
Roderick Dean Odom (Psychology), who began his career with Southern Bell in 1972, was recently named President of BellSouth Business Systems, the $3.1 billion unit of BellSouth Telecommunications (BST).
Dr. Harvey J. Feld (Chemistry), a pathologist, is currently practicing in Dade City and Zephyrhills. He was recently selected for inclusion in "Who's Who in America" and "Who's Who in Science and Engineering," and was also named Brooks Brothers "Man of the Year" in 1995 by the Leukemia Society, Suncoast Chapter.
1975
Leonard Spearman (Psychology) earned his law degree from Texas Southern University in 1986, and was recently named Regional Manger for the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission. His duties include the environmental oversight of thirteen counties.
