From the University of Florida Foundation

Name of PersonAs the University of Florida enters its final year of the It's Performance That Counts! capital campaign, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is proud to report unprecedented success in its fundraising program. Each year of the campaign we have seen a significant increase in the number of dollars raised and in the number of alumni, parents, friends and faculty contributing to the future of CLAS and the university. So we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you again for your loyalty and commitment.

Women's GymWhen this campaign began just over four years ago, the College set forth a number of specific goals, which included securing private funds to support student scholarships and fellowships, term professorships, the renovation of Flint and Anderson Halls, and a number of other milestones, almost all of which have been achieved.

Now with the campaign in the home stretch, we turn our full attention to the two goals that have yet to be completed. The College still seeks funds to renovate and restore the historic Women's Gym. A revitalized Gym would house the multi-faceted Center for Women's Studies and Gender Research, providing a physical and intellectual headquarters for research in the emerging field of gender studies and allowing UF to claim the only freestanding building in the US devoted to women's studies.

Give OnlineThe second goal yet to be achieved is the endowment of an Ethics professorship. This important new faculty position, housed in Religion but shared with Philosophy and other related departments in the humanities, will stimulate students from across campus to contemplate century-old questions and will advise them on the principals required to help make the right choices when faced with important decisions in both their personal and professional lives.

We are confident that with the tremendous number of generous and involved Liberal Arts and Sciences patrons, we will meet all of our goals before the end of the year, and truly set the College on a course for further greatness in a new century.
