Research Description
August 2007 Peru Earthquake and Disaster Relief
My research pertains to the August 2007 Earthquake centrally located in Pisco, Peru. My methodology was to obtain a generalization of the social, economic, and historic aspects of this location and its culture. In order to obtain this information I traveled to several key historic and cultural locations in Lima, Cuzco, and Pisco Peru. I researched architectural construction methods of the early Incas in order to build a foundation for possible earthquake prevention proposals. I also ventured to have an understanding of the progression of living standards proceeding the natural disaster. Communication with the people of Pisco became a prevalent source of understanding the complexity of the situation.
My main goal with this research study is to highlight the importance of humanitarian assistance and/or aid to any underdeveloped country devastated by natural disasters. With this information I have hopes of also designing a structure that will fit various circumstances both social and economic that directly relate to the August 2007 earthquake.
