Education major Melissa Pages' University Scholar research into the attitudes of academically gifted seventh grade students grew out of her own experiences in the Dade County Schools' gifted programs. "There have been so many trends and new approaches to teaching gifted children," she says. "I wondered if the kids' experiences today would be significantly different from when I went through these programs. And I also wondered whether the self-image of gifted students had somehow been affected by their varying experiences."
